They're Back: Fizzies®

Yes, those disc-shaped little bombs of flavorful fizz are back! Long before colas and other soft drinks made it into our house, we kids had Fizzies®. Sure, we also had Kool-Aid®, which was tasty (especially the red flavors!), but Fizzies® had the bubbles and were a blast to make! You just opened up the little envelope and plopped one or two into cold water and fruity flavor bubbled to the surface

I just heard the news and visited the Fizzies® website to see for myself. The website includes all sorts of ‘60s era trivia and memories under it’s “Remember When” section as well as info on the history of the drink and “Fizzies® 101,” instructions on how to use them (well, it’s pretty simple)

Made by Minnesota-based Amerilab Technologies, the new product contains sorbitol instead of sugar, and Vitamin C has been added so they are “healthier” than the originals, but I’m interested to find out if they taste as good as I remember.

Looks like the product is due out at the end of May and there were no stores carrying the product listed on their site. However, they do direct you to a great candy website, Sweet Nostalgia, where the product should soon be available to the public online.

So, plop,plop, fizz, fizz, folks!
