My First Kiss

Although I didn't think of it as such at the time, but my first kiss was actually quite romantic...maybe not the kiss itself, which was much like being sucked into a very wet hoover vaccum, but the setting sure was. I got my first real kiss in a ferris wheel.

Of course, I had butterflies in my 14-year-old tummy long before we got off the ground but being above the crowd up in the starry sky sure amplified my fear and excitement. First I lost the change in my pocket when we rocked so high we almost flipped over and then I lost my little girl shyness.

Steve was one or two years older than me, and I thought I heard a few years back he'd become a preacher like his daddy but at the time he was known as the class clown and cut up. While I recognized that I wasn't even in puppy love, he made me laugh and that's been a quality I've looked for in partners ever since.

Happy Valentines Day, Steve, wherever you are. And here's hoping your Valentine's Day is full of warm memories of loves past and celebration of loves present.

Share Your Memories with Boomerang!

“Reflecting” is a special area devoted to sharing memories. This section basically is written by our readers. We will announce a topic two months prior to the edition in which it will appear to give folks the opportunity to send us emails and, if they like, digital photos based on the upcoming theme.

We’ll be asking for around 150-250 words longand reserve the right to edit things down so that we can include memories from as many people as possible. We hope that each month’s theme will offer an opportunity for discussion— conversation starters if you will—with our families, friends and coworkers.
