Real or fake? (Tree, that is) Granola Girl says: Hey there, By now, most of us have heard the arguments for and against real trees in terms of time, money, and scent. The memory argument can go either way: we always had a real tree in the family room, but in the living room on a table was a four foot, gold aluminum tree. I loved them both. The environmental aspect of real vs. fake is interesting. For example real Christmas trees are 100% biodegradable. Also, they are an important crop for farmers. And, every tree grown contributes oxygen to our environment. In a time of global warming, that can't be underestimated. If you are concerned about the environment but want a fake tree, certainly check out the second hand stores. Rule number one for Granola girl: reuse, recycle!
