Natural Hair Fun

Granola girl says:

Those “toni waves” of our younger years were probably pretty toxic. But things have changed. Not only are today’s perms a little easier on the hair, but they are also less popular. Boomers may be more concerned with covering gray than they are with getting lasting curls.

Remember that your skin is an organ, and so putting commercial dye directly on your scalp is risky. A kinder choice is foils—a technique that involves wrapping your hair in foil—keep the dye off the scalp. Temporary dyes are not a horrible choice either, and carry a lighter toxic load. They are a great solution if your hair is less than 30% grey. And, lastly, henna may be a good choice for those wanting to cover grey. Henna can’t go lighter, only darker.

Herbal hair color. Here’s something even safer. Try herbs. Herbs that can color hair and fortify it at the same time include chamomile, sage, turmeric, and cinnamon.

In a pot of one quart water add a half cup of sage and three tea bags of chamomile tea. Boil the mixture.Let it cool. Pour over your hair twice.

To simplify, you can just use sage. Notice that each time you put this on your white or gray hair, your hair will keep getting darker, and you may end up with brown hair.

Hair oil. Here's a simple hair oil recipe. Use one cup olive oil or 1/2 cup olive and 1/2 cup peanut oil. Add 8 drops of lavendar essential oil. Heat slightly in the microwave and apply, paying extra attention to hair ends.
