Can you Capri?
Capri
pants have made a big comeback this year. In fact, one fashion
critic, who was not too happy about the craze, complained that
she had a terrible time finding long pants any more and called
Capris “short pants without the guts to be pants or shorts.”
Yet, the style’s popularity brings them back into style
again and again and now they’re everywhere.
While Gina looked great in her Capris and Annette may have danced
in them on the beach, it was perky teen queen Sandra Dee who made
them all the rage (Check out our article on Sandra).
When we were teens, they were called by a myriad of names. “Capri”
reminded us of the Isle of Capri in Italy, oh so Gina Lollobrigida
but they were also called:
Knee Knockers
Pedal Pushers
Clam Diggers
Cropped Pants
Ankle Pants
and the less flattering, Flood Pants

Whatever you call them, these short pants are back with a splash.
Today’s styles are lower on the waist and not as tight so
they appeal to many women of all ages. Fun, sporty, cooler than
heavy jeans for summer, they’re just down right “kicky.”
