Retro-inspired
flower pots
Materials:
flower
pots, acrylic paint, a variety of colored papers, Mod Podge, varnish
Here’s a quick and fun project for terra cotta
flower pots, so abundant this time of year. We looked to retro
designs for inspiration and came up three designs for these easy-to-do
pots.
Instructions:
First, wash the pot. Paint the entire outside in
one color. Then, cut out fun shapes from colored paper or vintage-themed
gift wrap. We did slightly misshapen circles, rectangles and paisleys.
We designed the pot on the left with the misshapen
circles, and Mod Podged the circles in a winding path around the
pot. Each big circle had a smaller circle within.
The middle pot features rectangles. We decided to
do this one around the upper edge. Some rectangles are painted,
others cut from pink and green paper and glued down with Mod Podge.
The last pot was spray painted first (not brush
painted). Paisleys (we drew ours freehand) were arranged around
the pot at intervals, with smaller paisleys cut from a contrasting
paper and glued with Mod Podge.
Last, apply a coat or two of varnish and you’re
good to go.
