Mosaic flower pot

Supplies

Tile glue
Broken ceramic plates, cups, etc.
Grout
Grout sealer
Clay pot

Organize your broken pottery into colors or dominant colors if the pieces are patterned. Clean off your flower pot. Adhere the broken pottery to the pot, one piece at a time with the tile glue. Use color to make a design—geometric designs are easy and pleasing as are suns or flowers. Keep the design fairly simple, unless you have really small pieces and want to do something more intricate. Let dry over night.

If you want a colored grout, mix a small amount of acrylic paint to the grout before applying. If you mix a small amount of red paint, you will have just a hint of color. Lightly colored grout is pleasing with colorful pottery pieces. If your pottery is mostly white, then a more intense grout color is appropriate.

Apply grout so that it goes into all the spaces between the pottery. You can use gloves or a spatula or your fingers, but make sure to get the grount pushed into all the crevices. Let it dry a few hours, then wash the tile so that it’s free of grout (the grout should be mostly between the tiles, not on them). Let dry overnight and then apply the grout sealer (check manufacturer’s instructions on sealer application).
